Our Latest Project!

As many of you know, my husband and I are adopting from China. We hope to travel to China early next year.

Last year, after learning about Great Wall China Adoption's Libraries of Love program, our class decided to collect books to send to orphanages in China. Our students are writing letters that will be translated into Chinese and sent to the children who will receive the books.

Last year, our class set a goal of 100 books. We have been overwhelmed by the support we have received for this project and have far surpassed our goal. Next week, we will be packaging the books for shipment to two orphanages in China. Stay tuned for photos!

News Flash: Volcanoes Erupt in Picayune!!!

Today our class finished a thematic unit on volcanoes. We learned that almost all of the earth's surface was created as a result of erupting volcanoes. We also learned that there are over 1,500 known volcanoes throughout the world and that there is one in Jackson, Mississippi!

As a part of our study on volcanoes, we made model volcanoes out of clay, plastic milk bottles and paint. Today during science class we used baking soda and vinegar to make them erupt!!!
